The technology of matchlock was transported to Japan (in 1543) by Portuguese and flourished there until the 1900s. The Japanese Matchlock, or Tanegashima was based on an unknown model of Portuguese snapping matchlock, but was refined so that the difficulties with self-extinguishing matches were almost eliminated. It is a japanese version of hand gun.

Tanegashima is a word that has been seen by for the first time in this Q n A forum, asked by Mr. Chandra Sekhar Krishnan who I suppose is on of a diiferent kind, either he is highly intelligent or he answers after checking from the wikipedia. But any ways Tanegashima looks like Noun to me, and by the first look it looks related to city THANE or TANAJI the great warrior of chatrapati shivaji maharaj. But after seeing some answers in this page I agree that Tanegashima is related to Hiroshima and the word is sounding JAPANESE now.
All the above said sentences are true to my best of knowledge.
And my IQ and intelligence is this much only and I'm not ashamed that I don't know what is TANEGASHIMA.
