According to the Advertising Standards Council of India anything that is false, misleading, indecent, illegal, leading to unsafe practices,
or unfair to competition, and consequently in contravention
of the ASCI guidelines can be penalized. Consumers as well as industries can lodge a complaint with ASCI.
