Radius, Area and Diameter are all related to each other. Hence you increase anything of these by 50% automatically others will also increase by 50%

Consider,

if

redius is 1 unit, then area=3.17*1*1=3.17

if

redius increased by 50% means

redius=1+1*(1/2)=1+1/2=3/2

then

area=3.17*3/2*3/2

It is Pie into square of the radius. If you increase the radius by 50 %, then the area will increase by its square of its 50%.
