If Thackerys unite as reported, will they be a formidable force in Maharashtra? Your views?

United or not, MNS is going to be a clear winner. The reason is simple. Voters vote for a leader.
Today, the scenario is Maharashtra is such the neither Congress nor BJP have anyone of that caliber.
SS supremo is yet to capture the minds of the electorate as his father did.
That leaves only Raj Thakery. Today, he is the only person in the state who is seen as a mass leader in his own right. So he would get maximum votes

If the Thackeray's dont unite and merge their respective parties into one before the next elections, the once again majority of seats would be won by the Cong-NCP combine which won last time primarily due to MNS cutting into the Shiv Sena-BJP vote bank. And if the Thackeray's dont unite before the next elections, then they will be called as politically naive. These leaves to one another theory which has been floating since some time - that the Trpirtite of BJP, Shiv Sena and MNS will form a pre-poll alliance against the Cong-NCP combine. However, even though this idea is not far fetched, again there may be disputes between the three parties as to the number of seats allocated to each because then it will become a game of one upmanship which will be adopted more by Raj Thackeray. Unless the Thackeray's realize that the only chance they have to get a majority is to re-unite, both these Sena's will remain only a secondary force, which when united had come to power in the State Assembly on ...more
