Q.

If only Delhi Government can withdraw the cases, why did Gupta represent his case to the Union Home Ministry? Obviously because his erstwhile lawyer was at the helm. Again, why did Chidambaram not forward Gupta' case straightaway to the Delhi Government for their direct disposal? Why did he bother to get the Law Ministry's opinion? Does Delhi Government not have its own law officers? Obviously, there is more to it than meets the eye. Again, blaming it on the junior officers for something going wrong has become a habit with ministers even as senior as Pranab Mukherjee and P.Chidambaram. -Comm

It's all well orchestrated plots and strategies and many go un-noticed. If one or two are caught by chance, they have all the explanations under the sun but least convincing to any with a fair amount of common sense. If any citizen asks the credibility of this bunch of politicians heavily paid from the national fund, for self serving there can be no answer. I wish there is a work study by a group of competent professionals to assess the contribution of these white elephants in the service of the nation every year to be eligible for continuation of their wages.

Because Mr.P.Chidambaram is a lawyer himself, he has an argument point of not maintaining interest in all the 25000 cases of four decades handled as lawyer. Such intelligent points are meant to be used for better use in Home Ministry and not for misuse!
