To ward off evil spirits and invoke the divine blessings, Khan was summoned to the Haryana Raj Bhavan with the serpent for rituals undertaken by Governor jagannath Pahadia's wife Shanti, affectionately called 'Rajmata' by the staff.
Khan had recently rescued a 3.5 foot Russel's viper from a Manimajra residence and took it along in a plastic can. Dressed for the ritual in a floral suit and heavy gold chain, the 'Rajmata' was warned of the viper's bite and its top-scoring kill rate amongst venomous snakes. -comment
