Q.
The beautiful garden attached to KR sagar Dam in Mysore is called as BRINDAVAN Brindavan is the word derived from Brindha + Vana. Brindha or Vrindha is nothing but TULSI and VANA means garden or forest or the growing place. In general, Tulsi is grown in temples for puja or above Jeeva Samathi of Saints. (E.g: Mantrlaya, Ragavendra Swamy Brindavan) How this beautiful garden, a place of entertainment, with variety of plants is called as Brindavan. In my opinion, it shall be called as NANDAVAN. Can anyone tell this to Karnataka Government and rename it?

It is believed that Krishna is closly associated wtih Tulasi (Plant). The plant with reddish green tint is called Krishna Tulsi. You may recall that during "Tula Bharam" one single leaf of tulasi outweighed the entire treasure. As Mr. Shashi LS has rightly said about raas leela at Brindawan in Dwaraka, the gardens at Mysore is an effort to remake and help imagine raasleela thus providing good platform for movie makers. The name appears to be quite apt.

I think the name doesn't need any change..other better gardens can be developed and named as per your good suggestion.

Good Suggestion. But as I understand Brinda or Vrinda also stands for GROUP as in case of group song named as Vrindagaan ! In place of replacing name, authorisites should give more focus in maintaining it apart from the commercial gains.

Brindavan is the name of the garden in Dwaraka during dwaparayuga. That is where Krishna's raasleela is supposed to have been performed by Krishna and his 16000 sakhis.
So the name Brindavan for the KRS garden comes from the inspiration the garden in expected to give like the brindavan of Krishna. Hope it answers
