Of course open markets. The reason is u have many choices, you can bargain which is not available in malls. The saying is that "all that glitters is not gold".For this particular incident gold is mall,so mall is not good as much as open air markets.

If shopping malls are nearby, frequent visits are worthy ; all essentials - roti , kapra and even makan are available. Prices too, have become competitive. The weather control sytems, the ambience, the hygiene are a welcome change.
Open air markets are disorganized, unhygenic, controlled by the so-called local mafia-police nexus - with no price or quality assurance. The idea is primitive.
To survive, the shopping malls also need to be competitive.
A civilization is known by the modernization which reflects better effects on human life. More and more people will embrace this change. It's only a matter of time.
The commoners too, deserve the shopping mall.
