He does not deserve the praise bestowed on him.He left India to live in a muslim country because he loves Islam n hates Hinduism. His nude painting of Mata Sarswoti n Bharat Mata vouchsafes my views.

MF Hussain may be a great painter but he painted Indian Godesses in the nude , which is very in very bad taste.Hence I have absolutely no respect or praise for him.

Ravi Varma is considered as modern among traditionalists and a rationalist among moderns. He provided a vital link between the traditional Indian art and the contemporary, between the Thanjavoor School and Western Academic realism. He brought Indian painting to the attention of the larger world.. There was comparatively poor patronage among Indians then for his art during the British rule M.F Hussein has many patterns and become popular on his stregth as a modern painter brought lot of western interests ,both have their unique influences through Painting . Had ,Hussein not become controversial he should have earned better appreciation from Indians .

Comparision in field is very natural thing to come up, however no two person can over-shine each other when it comes to public liking and mass appealing, some have better luck and stage to demonstrate their skills whereas some are not fortunate enough to get that opportunity nevertheless, they both were good in art work one came to prominance because of his style and controversies whereas the other will get his dues may be much later, I also wish to metion here there are very few lucky to get recognistion for their work during their lifetime like Guru Datta was he not a bettre director than Raj Kapoor (I am not trying to undermine his contributions and innovations) hence one has to accept the fact that all what is marketed well gets the best price ....

RR was a SUPERB and a LEGENDARY artist, but it was MF who did what we call "emulation painting." MF painted like a 4000 BC Indian and he was looking at his paintings thru the lens of a 4000 BC Indian. If u wanna know what our "ancestors" thought of life, what they did etc., MF's pieces were ur most accurate answer.

Fact is thru his nude arts, MF was highlighting the fact that our ancients werent puritanical and that our notion of "good" and "purity" is warped by victorian moral codes.
