His Full name was Mayavaram Krishnamurthy Thyagarajan (MKT) who later became famous as Thyagaraja Bhagavathar, was born in March 1, 1901 in the town of Mayavaram in Tamil Nadu. Today marks anniversary of his Birthday.
MKT was a great Actor, Producer and Classical Carnatic Singer with golden voice. He is considered to be one of the most successful Tamil film actors ever. Pavalakodi was made into a movie in 1934, MKTs debut film and box office hit. This movie made him to a Superstar, and for the next ten years he was the idol of millions of Tamil people. From 1934 to 1959, Bhagavathar acted in 14 films of whom 6 were box-office hits.
