In Delhi, during the same period, Moulana Fazl-e-Haq Khairabadi who was an influential Moulvi, had addressed a congregation of Muslims in Jamia Masjid and gave a Fatwa (religious decree) to fight the British. When the revolt against British in Delhi was defeated, one of the British officers wrote Hundreds of Ulema were blown by cannons while thousands were hanged and others deported to Andaman Island. Among the first batch of persons to arrive at the Andaman were well-known Moulvis like Mufti Mazhar Kareem of Delhi and Munshi Inayat Ahamed of Lucknow.Answered by muslimah, 07 Dec '12 03:36 pm
Allama Fazle Haq Khairabadi (1212/1797- 1278/1861) was the son of Allama Fazle Imam Farooqi Khairabadi (d. 1244/ 1829), the Sadrus Sudoor of Delhi. Allama Fazle Haq receid his education in Islamic sciences from Shah Abdul Qadir (d. 1230/1815) and Shah Abdul Aziz, the Muhaddith of Delhi (d. 1239/1824) and in rational sciences from his father.
