Among the contemporary Muslim scholars Dr. Mirza Abul Fazl was a pioneer who took interest in the study of the chronological order of the Qur`an and invited the attention of Muslim scholars towards its importance. He was the first Muslim to present a translation of the Qur'an in to English along with the original Arabic text (1910). When he published the English translation of the Qur`an in 1911, he arranged the Surahs according to their chronological order. In this regard he conducted his own research but mostly followed the chronological order determined by Noeldeke, except that in the placement of two Surahs he differed from Noeldeke and because of changing the order of these two Surahs, the arrangement of eight Surahs had to be changed.
