Your first step would be to direct an amateur movie using u r cellphone with your friends:) Try it.....and share it with us. That's the BEST way to get trained 2 become director. A director...directs films. What better way to learn this skill than try doing it u r self? Thankfully now u don't have to buy video camera, even cheap cells have pretty OK phones!

Try shooting a horror movie in first person view in the dark w/a team , using cellphone camera... that's usually a lot director's favourate starting point. Try to create some effects, try to use sound and environment and shadows work for u. Try to get u r friends (actors) to say dialog properly and realistically.

It is a fun experience!

Hi Dumeshwari,

To begin with you need to have a degree 10+2 or equivalent. The Director is without a doubt not only a person who tells the story, but also one who fully understands why the story must be told and the manner in which it should be presented. To make a career in Film Direction you should then register yourself in a Film School where they teach you all the nuances of Direction at it's very core as it will give you a great platform to launch your career.

There are various Film School where you can enroll for an Direction Course. DA it is located in Mumbai. We provide accomodation facilities too.
