Q.

Whenever I see headlines such as Railways remarkable turnaround or Indian Railways zoom ahead - I can't help feeling cynical and irritated. Agree, Indian Railways in spite of all odds still tries to stand on its feet and declare its presence as the largest railway network in the world. Undoubtedly it is the largest but is it the best? The unattended urinals, mounts of garbage, tobacco stained coaches, stray animals on platforms caused great inconveniece to passengers. The core problem of Hygiene and maintenance of trains has remained unattended. Your views plz.

Indian railway is largest profit making & asset holder institution in India. It earns profit but not much as Minister Laloo Yadav declared. Later it was stated his declaration was wrong. But Indian government is not much interested to give class facilities in all govt facilities. They can make it hygenic with supported staff, they can make it accident free by employing talented engineers, they can provide security by employing more personal in railway. but who cares? So. hum jis patari pe chal rahe hai waise hi chalo aur kya kar sakte hai?

I dont know where you got this news of turning around of Indian Railways ,Sumatiji ! During Laloo"s time we were given many rosy pictures ,and all those bunkcums were out of window dressing .Mamata was no better ,she hardly spent even a day for the rail after holding the minister's port folio .In fact ,this important ministry is kept as lollipop to satisfy the coalition partner of Congress .So obviously it was out and out neglected by the people in power .Since they know that only cattle having human bodies ride the Indian Railways . As such amenities available are quite suitable for cattle, may be unfit for human use !But why worry about ? Air travel here is quickly catching up the Rail ways , may be worse than that in near future

In India, hitherto, Indian Railways had been the largest interstate carriers of goods and passengers. Being a Government organization, Indian railways had to issue heavy (as much as 80%) subsidies on cost of carriage of carrying commodities such as grains, fuels and several other items. Of course those items that do not carry railway subsidies are never sent through railways as such a mode is not considered reliable except by postal couriers and postal departments. By the same compulsion, railways had to resort to subsidies for passengers and also to keep the passenger rates down at unworkable levels as a populist measure to scavenge votes. Added to this, the carriage, coach and other railway factories are Govt Depts. Even so, railways with their poor state of carriages, coaches and engines had a moderately tolerable services and maintenance when it was managed by railway workers. It was also a large employer. Suddenly the craze of outsourcing of everything to do with railway services ...more

All these problems could have tolerated had they ensured the security at stations and on tracks. Everything is left to GOD whether it is Dinesh Dwivedi, Trivedi, Chaturvedi or Maa ki Mamta. No views, everything needs a REVIEW.
