Here are the digital cameras I'v used, and My take on it.
Fuji FinePix, good camera, Offfer Maximim Zoom for the price
Sony cybershot Good camera, Not so good with zoom even though it uses Carl zeins lense
Olympus really slow. wont recommend.
My Favorite is Nikon coolpix. I love its small form and features
Canon SLR may be out of your budget.
Neither of these cameras offer 12x zoom.
If you are considering Digital zoom as a part of zoom then all do, but digital zoom is a number put on camera to make you feel good, It actually does not do much. Look for Optical zoom alone.

I think Fujifilm J27 will be a good choice at price range of 7000/- It has got decent zoom.
12 mega pixel and ISO upto 3200 also got detailing ability at low lighting and good colour contrast. And I may advice you not to go in back of brand name because it want do much good while selecting a good camera even though nikon and canon always stands good even then it varies from model to model.
Sure let know which did you go for and why....

I don't know about price range, but 10,000 looks sufficient budget for a 6 mp camera from Sony. Samsung offers better features at a price cheaper than Sony. So, if cost is contraint, my recommendation would be Samsung, otherwise Sony is the ultimate choice.
