In my opinion, one has to pay the amount spent against credit card by the due date mentioned on the statement. Alternatively, the bank will penalise interest (heavy interest) on the unpaid amount. It is better you settle your account. In case you are not interested in using the credit card, you can destroy the same or return to the bankers after obtaining their signature on the covering letter.
