1.He is posted as Collector or Distt Magistrate or Deputy Commissioner of a District
2.He also act Chief Executive officer of District Rural Development Agency
3.He also posted as Head of imp dept in Tourism,Agriculture,Planning etc. like Secretary or Director
4.He is posted as Secretary to various Ministries at Centre Govt level,he also act as advisor of important funtionaries
5.He is also appointed as Managing Director of Important Board and Deptt Controlled by State Govt.
6.His reporting is to Ministers,Chief Minister makes his position as prime officer of a state
7.He seeks report from all the dept head of Distt Level like Police,Crime,Agriculture,Irrigation etc and present it to C.M. thro Principle Secretary
8.He enjoy confidentiality and discrenatory powers and also some special previlage as officer that makes his postion next to nothing

IAS postings are from A to Z. They specialize in everything,mercy the postings at the hand of the politicians. The best of talent too can get rusted and turn NPA (non performing assets! IAS : I am Sorry ! IAS : I AT (YOUR) SERVICE . Yes Minister ,was made in UK , seen and put tp practice elsewhere in the world too,our country being no exception. The country still runs and develops because of the latter group.
