I just feel like doing a facepalm w/ a horse dung laced slipper when I think about this. We accept American culture but we still want traditional goodies! We LOVE invoking our religious laws on real estate! But we want to have a "me only" life othrwise, which is quite insane.

I dunno sire, to put things in perspective...

In America, by 18 years old, a teenager CAN live by himself and pay his own college. And most do. And THERE they get smashed up on kegs, go on hedonistic drives etc. Then they find a gf. If they cant' and they get very desperate they just go to Philippine or Thailand lmao. THEY ARE INDEPENDENT.

In America, divorce rates a lot of times happen 4 professional reasons more so than incompatibility. Like wife is HQ'd in Chicago and Husb in LA. They jsut have a meaningful break and find new spouses etc. The nag-a-lag divorces ARE there but the professional divorces are more.

IT IS A COMPLETELY DIFFERENT way of life sir. In India, we want inheritance, majority ...more

I consider the two cultures being totally different and each having their pluses and minuses...There are good and bad things in both of them...Westerns don't have joint family concepts for the most part..so each member of the family eventually tends to establish his/her own independent life...mostly all educated women are working and are highly independent given their socioeconomical structure of the country....so each one of them be a boy or gilr has a unique life style in personal and professional life..that's why they take dating as serious before they get married..it's ok with them in their setting..whereas we in India from the beginning are used to family life, living with parents, consulting them, caring for them..they become core part of our life even in making in certain critical decisions...in our setting we don't go well with just matching up boy's & girl's individual life styles, priorities, goals etc...we also match up with families which is why we are mainly an "arranged m ...more

Any thing anti western are now perceived as turning the wheel backwards. I feel, being the more materially developed societies, the good and bad effects of modernity touch the Westerners much earlier than us. But we can delay the bad effects of the material development by clinging on to our own culture which is more than 5000 years old. The American history is not even 500 years. But I think you can delay the arrival of the evils but perhaps not prevent it as the world is turning into a small compact village.
