Leoardo Da Vinci's painting of the Mona Lisa. Smile on lips and tears in eyes. Depicts a portrait of a woman, with enigmatic features. The smile on the face is subtle, not easily noticeable. One of his finest paintings. Her smile..its a magic created by Da vincii ...when you look straight at her you feel she is not smiling but look at her shoulders and you feel she is smiling very secretly..its really amazing work done by genius Leonardo A beautiful woman having no eye brows...research is still going on. and just follow her eyes ,they will follow you

First of all Leonardos technique, the sfumato which gives the painting a kind shadowy atmosphere which only few paintings have. With that the picture is on the one hand very intimate on the other hand her smile is vivid. She seems to smile at the beholder. Then I guess it is its openness. Unlike other paintings by Leonardo there is no history in it. When depicting biblical texts you have the history before you and you can relate picture and text. You can't do that with a portrait, and not knowing exactly who Mona Lisa was, and knowing Leonardo's exceptional life, the picture welcomes you to see in it whatever you like.
