Originally from Andhra Pradesh, she is best known for her two hit Hindi films, Dulhan Wahi Jo Piya Man Bhaye (1977) and Aasha (1980), the latter earned her a Filmfare Nomination as Best Supporting Actress. She also acted in her mother tongue language of Telugu, in the hit film Seetamalakshmi.

In Telugu her super hit film is "Sita Mahalaxmi" directed by veteran director K. Viswanadh who also directed the all India hit "Sankarabharanam"
