A pimple is one of the many results of excess oil getting trapped in the pores. Some of the varieties are pustules or pa pules.Although not the cause of pimples, practising good hygiene, including regularly washing skin areas with neutral cleansers, can reduce the likelihood of there being dead skin cells and other external containments involved in the development of pimples.

Common over-the-counter medications for pimples are benzoyl peroxide and/or salicylic acid and antibacterial agents such as triclosan. Both medications can be found in many creams and gels used to treat acne (acne vulgaris) through topical application. Both medications help skin slough off more easily, which helps to remove bacteria faster.

1) Humidity can cause acne. Try not to be in too humid of a climate for too long. That could mean staying inside a bit longer than usual. This also means to try not to visit saunas or steam rooms too often. Additionally, long hot showers can result in acne formation.

2) The more food you eat, the more acne your skin will produce. Healthy diets are always good. The more calories you eat, the more oil your skin cells will produce.

3) Do not wash your face more than two times daily. Excessive washing of the face causing increased irritation and can hurt and not help your acne.

4) Try not to wear a hat too often or have your hair in your face. These can cause increased oil on your face, which increases acne formation.

5) Do take steroids (for many reasons). One of these reasons is because steroids have been shown to induce acne.
