It is also called platform balance and has a weighing capacity of 2 Kg. supplied with supplementary masses. The balance has a Die cast Aluminium base beautifully painted, pressure die casted two beams, graduated 0-10 g x 0.1 g and 0-200 x 10 g, tarring capacity 225 gm with tare beam. Spring loaded zero-adjust compensator. Two pans are of stainless steel each of dia 150 mm. Supplementary masses of metal are one each of 100 g, 200 g, 500 g and 1000 g. Magnetic damping is provided for quick weighing.

The design of a balance scale depends in part on the scale's intended usage. A laboratory balance scale includes mechanisms for ensuring that the scale provides accurate measurements even for very small weights. An all-purpose balance scale for home use may have fewer adjustable parts for fine-tuning. All balance scales consist of a weighing platform, device platform and a beam that balances on the center pillar of the device platform.

Weighing Platform

The weighing platform consists of pans and stirrups. The pans hold the material that the scale will measure; therefore, the size of the pans directly limits the size of objects the balance scale can weigh. The stirrups support the pans (by a connected wire or strip of metal) and attach to the beam. The stirrup allows the pan to travel inward along the beam toward the center of the scale or outward along the beam toward the edge of the scale.
