Q.

"Prices of food products on the increase. Government failed to contain them" is the motto of every opposition parties. Now we simply forget the fact farmers are the most lowly paid in India. For example ar 40 bags rice per acre a farmer get Rs 27000/00 and deducting the expenses of Rs 12000/00 he will get Rs 15000/00 For his 4.5 month's labour and do you believe it is right?every farm products are priced so low in our country farmers are committing suicides even one monsoon fail. We the people have no regret for their plights and blame the rise in farm products. comment

The problem is to be tackled scientifically. Our per acre yield of rice is around 3 tonnes per acre on all India basis, where as in Tamilnadu it is 6 tonnes and a farmer in Uthama Palayam in Tamilnadu got an yield of 12 tonnes per acre with modern methods. Our top most priority should be to increase the yield with good support to the farm sector by providing with them good information on agricultural knowledge and the usage of modern equipments for sowing, harvesting etc to reduce the overheads. And make available to them the water, seeds , pesticides at an affordable price. And doing so the farmers will be happy and we are also happy for the prices will be stable.

If food prices r allowed to rise, the poor will suffer. But the price check should not be at the cost of the farmers. For that the Govt.after careful consideration ,has enhanced the minimum support price.
