I will tell you my personal experience. I was overweight of almost 30 kgs. I adopted a crash diet of raw fruits and vegetables. No salt or sugar. Since this diet was predominantly of carbohydrate.I supplemented it with half a bowl of faw groundnut.I avoided anyhot drinks such as tea,coffee etc.Within six months I lost 23 kgs.I started looking almost a haggard My stomack went down and almost rouched m y back so t hat I could not sleep on my back. But there was such an accession of st rength that I could easily negotiate a small hill ona bike.
I was 60 at that time.I slowly came back to the original diet and even if I did regain some weight it was not much.
