I have often wondered - the entrance fee to wildlife parks etc will be 20 rupees to nationals and 250 rupees or more to foreign tourists. The general advice given to foreign tourists visiting India is to be aware that everyone will try to rob them blind - not a good advertisement for Indian Culture !

It is in my view one of the many reasons for the abyssmally low numbers of tourists ( Singapore gets 4-5 times more ) come to India. This is the worst kind of thuggery meted out to visitors because it is done openly and lawfully and in front of all to see. Even the golfers are not spared. If one is a foreign passport holder , the Delhi Golf Club will charge 5 times more and payment must be only in hard currency.

THIS ATTITUDE IS BAD AND IS NOT JUSTIFIED. EVEN GOVT AGENCIES FOLLOW THE PRACTICE. ONE ISRAIL TOURIST ASKED ME WHETHER INDIANS DO PAY THE SAME COST OF TRAVEL LIKE A FORIGNER? I COULD NOT ANSWER HIS QUESTION. obviously they are paying more.

Nothing more than looting the guests. The Govt agencies are not behind the auto and taxi drivers in fleecing the foreigners. Even the road side vendors dont spare them.
