Q.

British people have entered India through Calcutta (West Bengal) and Chennai (Tamilnadu) and started their East India Company. General opinion is that the people in these regions always believe that grass on the other side is green. Now too these two places have become weak. Maoists have already become very active in West Bengal with the support of China. After the eradication of LTTE, Srilanka is also likely to come under the fold of China. And if that happens, Tamilnadu also may be exposed to Maoists. Will it be a threat to us?

Firstly, perception of threat needs to be clarified. If you had meant that whether we are going to be ruled by China in the long run - the answer is a big NO. Unlike China, we have democracy, freedom of speach and independent Judiciary and even then we are the second largest growing economy of the world after China. After the second world war, more than 200 countries got independence and none of these countries have democracy, freedom of speach and independent Judiciary. The reason is that it is too difficult to manage a feudal and backward country through such freedom. But India has managed to do it with a billion population and that speaks volumes about our capabilities. China has progressed tremendously and whatever they have achieved, it is because of their government. We might not have progressed like China - but still we are the second largest growing economy and whatever we have achieved, that is in spite of our government. That means, it is the Indian talent that is taking us f ...more
