The matter of gratefulness is quite intriguing for me. Before explaining my position, let me make it very clear, I am keeping my parents out of these discussions.

In our daily lives, we must see That it is not happiness that makes us grateful, But the gratefulness that makes us happy. Albert Clarke. We surely want happiness. This sense wants us to be grateful to people who have contributed to our lives in some way or other in a positive manner. Sometimes these contributions come as a routine duty from some, as mark of gesture from some others and also come as sheer goodness of some. When I get the excellent professional service from a qualified doctor, should I be grateful to him because I have paid him what he demanded as service charge? The driver who reached me in my hour of urgency to the destination in exchange of money, should I be grateful or not?
