Wid a small instrument called LACTO METER is used to check whether the milk contains water or not.The meter is actually a specific gravity hydrometer which is calibrated with pure milk based on its specific gravity. If water is added to pure milk the specific gravity will change and the meter will show the difference. To test the presence of chemicals, the milk has to be tested in a food testing lab.
We can do some alcoholic test too.

Let a cupful drop on earth. Its thickness and consistency of holding together and retaining its 'Milkness' will tell you if it is pure or not. At least this is what we do in Punjab villages.

Take a drop of milk and put it on a transparent glass if it slides with leaving a white stain on it
then it is pure if it doesnot leave a stain then its impure.
