Yes. Due to improper sleep, the body does not get enough rest to repair itself and hence metabolic changes can occur leading to weight gain.
To ensure proper sleep, some methods can be tried :
1. If thoughts are troubling you, please write them down before sleep.
2. If you have the habit of eating large meals at late night, eat light foods by 8'oclock and go to sleep by 10-10.30 p.m.
3. Have a glass of hot milk to calm yourself before bedtime.

I went through all the answers 14 of them.None of them know about insomnia and weight gain.Actually weigh gain is due to multiple causes .After you have accumulated enough body weight ,you suffer from OSA ie Obstructive sleep apnoea. This causes fragmentation of sleep.Which means that sleep is disturbed and disrupted as an imminent awakening takes place when Oxygen saturation falls .The patient/person suffres from arousal as only an arousal ensures that oxygen saturation is restored. Then he goes back to sleep and the cycle continues.Ultimately he does not get adequate sleep during the night and suffers from 1) Day time somnolescence 2) Fatigue 3) Tendancy to cause accidents 4)Impotence 5) Hypertension 6) Heart disease 7) dyslipedemia 8) Decrease work efficiency.
Thus Rupa please understand that Obesity may cause Insomnia. And importantly this is managed by controlling weight and NOT by sleeping pills.
