Pandey ji , I have a complaint you do not give BA even if you get detailed answers.
I replied to this already , Prefer a Cannon D-SLR just not because published technical specifications are supirior but because there is a wider community who understand Cannon D-SLR software better.
Actually all the Digital cameras use a microprocessor ( DIGIC 3 in case of Cannon ) which can be programmed. Usually hardware is same in case of lower end model and highest end model of same range and companies disable software features.
For cannon Digic 2 and Digic 3 cameras software is available on internet by which you can unlock these capacities which you can not do it on nicon.
Check this site and see how many high end features you can use of Cannon D-SLR and also normap Powershot series.

for Powershots

See sample pictures and check how much you can gain by spending lot less.

Sony is the best, bcoz i'm holding an "H" series Sony Cybershot, which has 10x optical zoom & better than the normal "W" series. So SLR in Sony is gonna be mind blowing...
