Your question is valid maam. But just have a look in real world where you find such heinous crimes are happening now and then. Due to fear of humiliation many women dare not to even complain to police. And frankly tell you, we have no stern laws against rapes and many criminals go Scot free. When we have such instances in daily life, dont you think that rapes commited by the enemy is quite logical? Afterall everything is fair in love and war. I am not supporting them but I am very angry with the position of law and order in our country. Or I doubt if there is anything called justice in our country. Let me tell you one incidence that happened near my place before many yrs. I was not even born then. There were 15 women were raped by an armed dacoits in one small town. Later they were threatened by dacoits and warned not to complain to police. Those women were very brave and came forward and lodged a complaint agaisnt them. Can you imagine how long that case was pending for justice ? ho ...more

From time immemorial, the violation of a woman's body is directly related to her dignity. There is no greater despicable act than s_ exual violation of whatever mode to trample on that dignity, which completely shatters her as a person for the shame and catastrophical damage that is caused to her psyche. It not only has a direct bearing on the invidual woman alone but goes on to pervade her kith and kin, for the shame that is associated with such an act. It would be therefore totally correct to surmise that, there is no greater beastly act than what those who perpetuate it aims to achieve for the devastating effect it has on everything as an individual and society on which it is heaped upon - a kind of total annihilation of the very purpose of life, from which many find it difficult to recover for the kind of demoralising effect it has.

From time immemorial, rape and pillage has been used as a psychological weapon to beat the conquered people to submission, either by rape or coerciv ...more

It is complicated and a REAL tragedy I agree :( I can give you a real life example case, which was COMMON. In WW2 in USSR when the Nazi's invaded, they went on a rape-exploitation spree. It was attrocious. Then, when the Soviets beat the Nazi's....think of what happened.

You would have many serving members in the Battle of Berlin between USSR and Nazi Germany whose sisters or mothers or daughters or wives were violated seriously by the Nazi's. Sometimes in front of their eyes. They would be pretty scarred. And when they get scarred, they go on a spree especially when facing the ppl who did it on superior terms.

But it is worthwhile noticing that violations against civilians are ALWAYS like 95 percent plus- committed by rear end echelon troops (in Communist verbology) or paramilitary forces (in Capitalist verbology) who flank combat troops rear end wise in combat and deployment. In ALL countries, ALL throughout the times. From Nazi Germany to USSR to India.

When Nazi's inva ...more

When rapes are commited in civilised societies on a regular basis and our laws are not stringent enough to be detrimental why think of the atrocities commited during wars with the enemy.?
When we have instances of acquaintances commiting rape on minors and hapless women-then rapes commited by the enemy seems quite logical my dear.

Geneva Convention has included this act as serious war crime.
However, war is a madly game. No one can afford to remain wise at that time.
Such stigmatic is human nature during war.
Unfortunate.
