Get some fresh cream, from dairy or store, beat with icing sugar, and vanilla essence, spread with spatula, top with halved-strawberries, and voila!

"Icing on a cake" I use more as an idiom especially when a new trait or quality is exhibited by a person already possessing high merit. I further thought it's the placing of a berry, grape or some jam at the centre of the cake to make it attractive. It's interesting that it's not that simple and is a different concept.
