Hi All. I hold a Damt account with HDFC Bank Ltd. I had enquired with the Bank for Change of Name on the dmat account since I got married. HDFC Bank says that the name on the Dmat Account cannot be Changed. You have to open a new account and then Transfer all your existing shares to the new account.
I want to know is this the rule of the DMat account across all the banks. If the Name can be changed on the bank account, why cant it be done for the Dmat account.
