Only 0.5 per cent of the population in India are aware of e mail.The rest of india is familiar with the post card and money order.

Cant tell u the exact reason but have experienced that whenever i go to post office i have to stand in a queue
and the post office i visit has six counters to attend to customers. yet it is always full of people

119749712 people use internet in india. it is 10.07% of total population of india. (2011 survey)
and india is third highest no. of internet users in the world. so 90% of indian population use post office. very good scope yet.

Till we have people in rural India, which does not have electricity, which does not have net connections, and which does not have literate people, till then we need post offices and post men.. We sitting beforer computers do not even imagine how people live in the rural India...

There is still work for them like postal savings , vikas patra, and some agencies like life insurance, etc use postal services . they are able to survive better with less work
