Depends on quality of tour and duration. May be about Rs. 3000 per day per person should be good enough if travelled by road & public transportation system with minimal and well advance air bookings.

I read an autobiography by swami radhanath of ISKCON, he started his world tour with few cents, was a Hippy and came after his europe and central asian trip came to India , later became a sanyasi and then some kind of chief at ISCKON, have to say dint agree with Him at many portions of HIs Book, seems to me to be written to target those westerns for whom India is land of sadhusand Miracles
