$75 per day is the absolute minimum in Western Europe, not including your flight - and that's staying in youth hostels, using public transportation, paying admission fees sparingly rather than seeing everything, and eating cheap food (cafes, bakeries, kebab shops, pizzerias, pub food, tapas, ethnic food, fast food, etc.) instead of standard restaurants for most meals.

If you want to stay in basic 2-3 star hotels instead of hostels, eat most meals in actual restaurants, and go to bars and clubs a lot, budget more like $125-150 per day.

Eastern Europe is a lot cheaper than Western.

The cheapest cities to fly into are usually London, Paris, or Amsterdam. Starting and ending your trip in one of those can save you a few hundred dollars in summer.

European travel doesnt have to be expensive. In fact, it can be downright cheap if you know how to budget, barter, and avoid extraneous expenses.
