All major festivals of Islam , Ramzan, Bakrid and Muharrum highlight sacrifice and love only. Then how come there are jihads and batwas to annihilate? Who created them, for Islam dont preches violence?

I am too confused what is jihad and fatwa all about? My Muslim friend told me that the word Jihad is derived from the Arabic word Jahd which means fatigue or the word Juhd which means effort.....And fatwa a legal verdict given on a religious basis, this is an Islamic legal ruling or edict. The sources on which a fatwa is based are Holy Qur'an, Sunnah of the Prophet..I think they both have been misused by their own people due to misunderstanding its true meaning. Yes, there are good Islamic who would not harm a hair on any ones head. Im sure that the Muslim people who are slaughtered by people of their own religion would disagree with the way Islam has been used to justify such slaughter(like jihad and fatwa), but the fact remains that every Muslim-majority country in the world supports state enforced religious rules to some extent and, in most cases, give some level of actual authority to Muslim clerics (as well as free reign of those clerics to spew hatred toward non-Muslims)Of course ...more

Yes you are right ,Jihad means to struggle and strive for good cause and not for killing innocents .
God almighty said in quran that killing one innocent is like killing entire humanity . However permission to fight is given by almighty God only when some one wages a war on beleviers and tries to evict them from their houses .
Islam means submission to will of God .Islam is dervied from word SILM which means peace .
Jihad does not mean holy war as no war is holy .the word in arabic for holy war is harb-muqaddas which is nowhere found in Quran .the concept of holy war is Alien to Islam . crusades means holy waranf not jihad .
Once a man asked Prophet pbuh to go to battlefield to defend the land .Prophet pbuh did not allow him to go to battlefield telling him the best jihaad for him is to serve his old parents as they had no other to serve them .so here jihaad meant to serve their old parents rather than going to battlefield

If you let religious preachers to dominate your personal life, you will get such responses.other religions dont suffer from this problem, because people did not give that much space to religious teachers.

Who told you that they signify sacrifice for all and universal love ?
The Sacrifice is for Ummah and love is for the faithful to their book.

So jihad is those who do not belong to Umaah and do not belive in thier book so it is perfectly in line with general understanding.
It is fault of others who assign their own values such as universal brotherhood and peace to muslims.

I have an appeal here to all people especially to all non-muslims who have their minds filled up with hatred & misconceptions about Islam...Please please all you don't base your views or opinions of any religion based on what the followers represent...the true way to learn about any religion is from the most authentic sources which in most cases is sacred scriptures...I know no one has got time to read any books and understand true meaning of it especially if it is some one else's religion..but then it is equally important for them not to pass invalid & wrong judgment about a religion itself and malign it without having a proper understanding of it....You can't judge a car's performance based on it's drivers capabilities...I see many people asking this question "If Islam is all about peace then why so much violence in it's name?"...the answer is simple...it's not only with Islam but with almost every religion...the varying grotesqueness of human nature doesn't bind them all together un ...more

Just like all major festivals such as Holi, Durgapuja, Deepawali etc. etc. teach to love and inspite of the same jehadis are there. No religion says to be Jehadi. This word Jehadi is found every where in different shapes. No one can stop it. In my view as we say hindu, muslim, sikh, isai. Same way it is Jehadi who do not have any religion. In the name of religion they mislead people giving money or threats.
