Buddhism is considered to be an off shoot of the traditional Indian religions. It has accepted many of the concepts and rejected many others. This is why many Indians consider that Lord Vishnu incarnated as Lord Buddha in order to clean up the negativity which had started asserting itself in the Indian religions
