For a diabetic it is essential to be active all day long so that the rate of metabolism remains high. Apart from that a brisk daily walk either in the morning or evening is also needed to keep blood glucose levels within the prescribed limits.

Firstly,Type of diabetes(Insulin dependant or Independant)should be determined as strenous exercise may have a fatal effect on one type of diabetes. the next step could be controlled diet and free exercises ( for eg:Pendular exercises)coupled with regular walking is best for a diabetic.
