I have never heard a voice like S. Janaki , who is widely known as Janakai amma . Padma Bhusan Award cant match her Talent .she is much above . My Pranam to the mother of Sur and laya . I am a fortunate one to know her being in south . Till the age of 27 I dint know about her and when heard for the forst time I was amazed and ashamed for being ignorant about the genious vocalist of our country .

She is from Adhra ,telegu speaking person but the way she contributed to malayalam Industry and others southern fil industry , its history !

People may dislike but some of the compositions of salil chaudhury sung by Yesudas jee and Janaki - its awsome and janaki has rendered much better than Yesudas jee. for example I would quote one song IVIDE Katinu sugandham , like some thing .. Janaki has beat the co singer remakably .

Undoubtedly Janaki is much superior than any other female singer in India . Music shouldnt be confined or divided into north or south .It is India .and she is a ...more

I am yet to know the exact reason for the refusal. But going by the nature of the person and her capabilities, I guess she must have some genuine reasons for doing so. Discrimination of the SOUTH and NORTH EAST is nothing unusual with those in DELHI. That happens quite often!
