What is a corex process used in iron making industry, or in steel plant ,, what are the advantage of using this technology in industry and what is the principle behind this??????? please help me!!!!

Corex is a process developed where the iron is produced in corex modules by direct reduction and indirect reduction both combined.We have 2modules in jindal vizianagaram near Thorannagallu.Other units are in Bao steel china, South Africa, quangyang(Posco) etc. The Chinese steel producer Baosteel Pudong Iron and Steel Co. Ltd. (For Short Pudong steel) at Luojing, near Shanghai started up a Corex C-3000 plant, with a nominal production capacity of 1.5 million tons of hot metal per year. The project was completed under the management of Siemens Metals Technologies within only 29 months from the contract signature. Substituting coke, a wide range of coals can be directly used in the Corex Process for the smelting-reduction operations, considerably reducing raw-material costs and environmental emissions.
