Dr Ali Ahmad Nadwi has won the prestigious King Faisal award for Islamic studies this year. 2004 who has been chosen for his contribution in the filed of Fiqhi rules for commercial transactions. His co-winner is the Saudi scholar Dr Yaqub al-Bahusain. In what is an indication of the high standards of Indian Islamic scholarship a number of Indians have earlier won this world-class award and these include late Maulana Abul Hasan Ali Nadwi, Dr Nejatullah Siddiqui and Dr Mustafa Azami.
