Dear friend
ur strategy to invest long term is good. but this long. please restrict
ur tenure of investment in a bluechip ( however strong scrip it is)
only to 3 years, which is a reasonable period. even in such cases
please invest only on line so that whenever situations warrant
u can always rebalance ur portfolio. if u r desirous of investing
for ur children for fairly a long period, please choose a
close-ended scheme of a good mutual fund(not u l i p)
there r plenty of good schemes. rediff business page
as well as moneycontrol.com would throw a lot of insight
into such long term products. choose the best , invest
and forget ur worries for the next 3-5 years. remember birla sunlife
mutual fund gave 1000 per cent return on such a long term product
in the recent past. u may also reap such a bonanza provided u have
the patience, resources and will to wait. best wishes

My answer is L and T.It can goto 580-610 (beore mar 31 2009) level sin short term. Buy then to get a decent return in long term. 15 % compounding in next 5 years is what you c an expect from that level.
