The Indian Air Force celebrates its 75 years. This is a moment to be proud of. Let us stop a moment and remember those who died fighting for their country and let us not forget those who are still in service.

Then Indian Air Force (IAF) is the youngest of the three services. (Obviously, as aircraft were invented much later than ships and land forces.) But today's warfare strategy demands air superiority first , before marching the army in. Air Force is deployed with the single task of wipe out enemy air force. Later, when the army is ordered to march forward into the enemy territory, it is The Air Force that gives air cover to the troops.
On the 75th birth year of IAF, we remember the Longewala battle of 1971 (on Rajasthan border with Pakistan) which the IAF helped win decisively and which ultimately became one of the major victories resulting in winning the war of 1971. In 1965, our pilots with their Gnats and Vampires, (which were almost obsolete by Western standards) annihilated Pakistani air power that consisted of modern fighters like Sabre jets!!!! Its Man behind the machine that counts was proved quite comprehensibly in the 1965 war with Pakistan!!
