It depends on how big the acquarium, how many fishes are there and how often the aquarium is cleaned.
The purpose of air pump is to meet the chemical oxygen demand, biological demand and as well it has to replenish the oxygen absorbed by fish.
Normally a falt bottom spherical bowl of about 3 liters capacity and with two fishes, needs to be cleaned once in a week atleast.

Depending on hardness of water anywhere from 2 day's - depends on fish type
