The question actually belongs to ASTRONOMY or ASTROPHYSICS but sadly people confuse astrology with them. Astrology is NOT even a science.
Anyway the correct answer is not so easy to give since the brighness of the star depends on how far it is from us and how we are looking at it. Apart from our sun, Sirius appears to be the brightest star which can be seen from earth. But astronomers know about stars which are far far brighter than Sirius.

Bright stars are bright because they have high luminosities and/or they are nearby, Sun being the nearest to earth with a distance of 0.000 016 light years is the brightest star in earth. A star named LBV 1806-20, located 30,000 to 49,000 light-years from the Sun, towards the center of the galaxy has an estimated variable luminosity of up to 38 million times that of the Sun making it comparably luminous to Eta Carinae or the Pistol Star, contenders for the most luminous known star.
