President of India today is too ceremonial; in times of crisis such as what is being faced by Indians with corruption at the highest levels this would be an appropriate measure. If this is done then there is no need for another office called "Lokpal (Ombudsman)" Indian President should take over Powers to control corruption charges at Federal level (including, Legislature, Armed Forces, Judiciary) through investigative arms like CVC, CBI & at State levels through Governors & Lokayuktas. Like PM of India President of India is also indirectly elected by the people of India. -Discuss

Sir,It is good thinking to empower The President of India certain issues as suggested by you, because though the president is indirectly elected by the people of this country but is the true representative to safeguard the interest of the State being head of it.In case if some amendments are required for the Constitution it must be done to make the parliamentary democracy to be more responsive and accountable with suitable checks and balances.
