Q.

Mrs. Indira Gandhi was in a class by herself, like her own self, unlike others. She was groomed by her great father who was groomed by his great father. All Indians, despite their political affiliations, admired it from their core. That she changed the political map of the Indian subcontinent was only a small contribution of Mrs. Indira Gandhi. That she made Indians believe in themselves was a greater one.Comments pl.

Indhira Gandhi , in some way is more masculine than feminine. While it is said of her father that he loves his country beyond everything, the same can not be told of Indhira. For me she loves herself more than anything else. Most of her actions like nationalization of the banks, breaking of the Congress and implementing emergency are all born out of her selfishness than other passions. However , she was to to be appreciated and applauded for her courage and on the spot decision fearing none.

I love Indhira Gandhi. I miss her dearly. Even during the height of emergency operations a man could bunk w/a girl in a lodge in peace & a woman could have a shot of vodka. Indhira Gandhi was THE ONLY breed of Indian leader who didn't equate national priorities & patriotism by controlling common man's quest for entertainment. That's when I really started saluting IG.

The thing was though, the rest of the country wasn't quite thinking on the same plane as Indhira Gandhi. She wanted to nationalize India's economy on the accusation that Indian enterprises held by private parties didn't promote creativity- there were plans for "creativity homes" nationwide, where ppl of different talent go, congregate & come up w/a new business idea.

She was not of the breed who wanted the generosity of foreign aid in India & she was not of the type who wanted India to be an MNC hub. She wanted India to be a DONOR and she wanted other countries dependent on India.

Even though she was groomed by her father, she was courageous than her father. It is said that she is one men army in the whole assembly. Moreover, she has got the courage to do whatever she likes, like emergency, the Bangladesh war, asking Bhutto to surrender before her. She is really durga. She made our armed forces one of the strongest in the world. we have to give full credit for the same. so she is considered to be the great lady . Moreover, every one has their own faults and strength. Even though she has some weakness, she did not surrender to the whims and fancies to the other polticians. Even the world , recognised her contribution, moreover, during her period, no one has got the courage to say anything about India. Today india needs her very badly. If she would have been alive, there will be different India.

Indira Gandhi, inspite of her faults and foibles, her frailties and failings, her moments of greatness and ignominy, remains one of our greatest rulers to have graced the Prime Ministerial chair. She it was who sunk the evil and pernicious " two nation theory " of the evil Muslim League and its equally evil minions permanently in the Indian Ocean, hopefully never to be resurrected again. She it was who kept a stonghold on her errant cabinet colleagues and ensured that no one got too big for his or her boots. Again, it was she along with the illustrious Dr. M.S.Swaminathan , who made our country self-sufficient in the matter of foodgrains by ushering in the Green Revolution and did away with the ignominy of the PL-480 . Her failings, which again were indeed costly beyond words, were that she allowed the Inidan Constitution to be subverted purely for personal gains. She was in a strong position when the Hon'ble Allahabad High Court passed a judgement against her and could have gracefull ...more

I dont have much interest in Politics, but as a person , I have always been an admirer of her...she had the guts to lead a country representing almost 20% of the world population...and so as in case of Rajiv Gandhi, though vastly different 4m his mother, but I still feel his premature end has been the biggest loss for the country in terms of last 2-3 decades...

What ever may be her failings the way she handled Bangala war we sould be proud of her , only sad thing is at the same time she had the power to solve kashmir problem, which she failed during the peace meeting with bhutto, even the bank nationalisation which we blamed her at that thime saved us from financial collapse unlike U.S.A banks. In totallity she was better then the present crop of leaders

She scores over all other politicians this country ever produced ! She was a stounch and agressive, assertive Indian who kept the neighbours under check and annexed Sikkim.Like the great people she also made mistakes by crimilisation of Indian politics and imposition of Emergency. Despite her failings , we love her as the true daughter of Mother India
