In 1993, the first female film star to appear alone on a postage stamp was Grace Kelly. A commemorative stamp was issued simultaneously in the US & Monaco. On the US stamp, she was described as Grace Kelly, while on the Monaco stamp she was described as Princess Grace. (Source: Biography of Grace Kelly)
On the male film star side, there was a series of stamps called "legends of hollywood" whichwas published. James Cagney was the fifth on this list to be commemorated on his 100th birth anniversary on July 22, 1999.
