The current tracks of the Indian Railways can undertake the maximum speed of 160 km/hr, that is what the technology permits. The fastest train in India now is the New Delhi-Bhopal Shatabdi Express which has the maximum permissible speed of 150 km/hr between New Delhi and Agra.

In Japan, East Japan Railway, Japan's largest rail operator, is testing a new shinkansen, or bullet train, called the Fastech 360, which has a top speed of 360 kilometers an hour.
